A TRIBUTE TO OUR MASTER
Master is a word used frequently by many people in this day and age, but is appreciated by few. Those who truly understand and appreciate the use of the word and who had the privilege of knowing or studying with our SHIHON SENSEI JENKINS, can see the appropriateness of A Tribute To Our Master.
Mr. Jenkins passed away on October 9, 1984. He was a man who not only mastered the arts he studied, but had a unique way of sharing them with others and teaching his students to do the same. He had been involved in the Martial Arts. Judo and Karate in particular, for the past 25 years. He was a registered and recognized 1 st Degree Black Belt in Judo and 6th Degree Black Belt in lsshinryu Karate.
He was the founder of our Jersey Judo Karate Kai. He was the author of the book An Education in the Martial Arts. He created and directed the Martial Arts Program at the Pocono Sports Camp. He was the Director of the North Jersey Karate Championships. He had taught the Self Defense Program at the Jersey City Police Academies for many years. He was a United States Representative of the lsshinryu World Karate Association. He was lectured and demonstrated the Martial Arts to many social, civil, athletic and educational organizations.
Mr. Jenkins had influenced thousands of people in New Jersey and had definitely affected mankind for the better. Mr. Jenkins especially liked working with and developing young people because he felt that the children are the future. Love - Hard Work - Patience - Setting Goals - Growing, Slowly but Surely - Playing - Positive Winning Attitude - Nothing is impossible for a Karate Ka. These are a few of the concepts that Sensei believed in and shared with us.
Students, Parents. Friends;
We hope that this day will project the greatness of this mans life - So great that all he has
taught and shared will continue through the Rightness and Spirit of Jersey Judo Karate
Kai.
